Witkin, Poetry of death ;)

Dedicated to Z.
Those days I found this painter, who tries to give beauty to grotesque objects we usually rejected, as dead people, bodies parts and transexual guys. After seen his works I conceived as awesome, you know, the kind of art you cannot let it go. He could be seen as a player,a joker or an extreme scholar. I like to see him of the three ways. Witkin says it all to re-elaborate Las Meninas of Velásquez: he does of the art a temporary ruin. So full of time, the art is like the same life. The trascendental question Witkin is doing to us is: what to do with the death to wich the time obliges. Witkin does poetry... but that's not the answer, is the question. He transforms the death of somewhat horrible to somewhat beautiful, as should be it. Witkin is recognized inside a tradition of mystical artists as: Goya, Blake and Redon. He says about it: "Because we argue for Divine Madness as an honorable choice in a society devoid of human honor" (21 st: Journal of Contemporary Photograhy).
